    Mrs Agnes MAK TANG Pik-yee,

    Mrs Agnes MAK TANG Pik-yee was awarded the “Ten Outstanding Young Persons in Hong Kong” in 1995. She was the President of the Hong Kong Computer Society from 1995 to 1998 and was conferred Distinguished Fellowship in 1999.

    Mrs Mak is firmly committed to serving the community. Currently she serves on numerous public bodies and advisory committees, including Hong Kong Productivity Council, Innovation and Technology Commission, Hong Kong Housing Society, Employees Retraining Board, Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications, and Hong Kong Baptist University.

    In addition, Mrs Mak has a passionate interest and aspiration to advance the IT industry and promote IT professionalism in Hong Kong. For the past 20 years, she has actively participated in community work to encourage IT adoption for the betterment of our community. She served as the Chairperson of the Organising Committee of the IT Excellence Awards since its establishment and the Chairperson of the Information and Communications Technology Industry Training Advisory Committee of the Education Bureau that advises on the development of the Qualifications Framework.

    Mrs Mak is also a strong advocate of lifelong learning as a means to attain and strengthen one’s professionalism. She has served on VTC’s Committee on Information Technology Training and Development since 1998 and assumed its chairmanship since 2007. With her wealth of professional experience in the IT industry, she has steered the manpower surveys conducted by VTC in support of the manpower planning and development in the IT industry sector. She has provided invaluable advice to the curriculum development of VTC courses in the IT Discipline. Mrs Mak has also served on the Steering Committee of the Hong Kong Network of Virtual Enterprises project, and helped shape the development of enterprise education in VTC and the school sector, promoting business education partnership. In recognition of her sterling support to VTC’s activities, she was presented the VTC’s Outstanding Honorary Award in 2007.

    Mrs Mak was appointed Justice of the Peace in 2002 and was awarded the Medal of Honour in 2007 Government Honours List for her valuable contributions to the Lotteries Fund Advisory Committee and other public services.
