Mr Stanley LAU Chin-ho is an industrialist with extensive expertise in the watch and clock business. He is Managing Director of Renley Watch Manufacturing Company Limited which he founded in 1983.
Serving on several government advisory and industry bodies, Mr Lau is Honorary President of the Hong Kong Watch Manufacturers Association and Chairman of the Watches and Clocks Advisory Committee of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. As Deputy Chairman of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI), he has worked assiduously to promote manpower development and technological advancement in the community. Representing the FHKI on the Labour Advisory Board of the Labour and Welfare Bureau since 2004, he has contributed to the formulation of labour policies with his valuable input. Other responsible positions he holds include being Vice Chairman of the General Support Programme Vetting Committee of the Innovation and Technology Fund, Member of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Advisory Committee and Member of the Greater Pearl River Delta Business Council.
From 2006 to 2011, Mr Lau was a Council Member of the VTC. During this period, he served as Member of the Standing Committee and Chairman of the Administration Committee. In these roles, he contributed immensely to the Council’s strategic development through the insights, industry knowledge and advice he offered. As Chairman of the Watch and Clock Industry Training Advisory Committee of the Education Bureau under the Council’s purview, he oversaw the implementation of the Qualifications Framework and development of Specifications of Competency Standards for the watch and clock industry. Through his own company, he has also provided employment opportunities to a number of VTC graduates.
Appointed Justice of the Peace in 2006, Mr Lau was awarded a Medal of Honour and the Bronze Bauhinia Star by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government in 2004 and 2009 respectively in recognition of his contribution to the community.
