Mr Freeman LAU Siu Hong, BBSPartner of Kan & Lau Design Consultants*Extract from Order of Ceremony 2007Mr Freeman LAU Siu Hong is the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hong Kong Design Centre, the Secretary General of Hong Kong Federation of Design Associations, the Director of the Hong Kong Institute of Contemporary Culture, and a Fellow Member of Hong Kong Designers Association. He has won over 300 awards in overseas and local art and design competitions. His art and design works have been collected by museums all over the world including Victoria and Albert Museum, London, England and Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, Holland. He was awarded the “Ten Outstanding Young Persons” in 1997. Mr Lau is fully committed to education and art development in Hong Kong and gives lectures frequently in local and overseas institutions. He is an Adjunct Professor and the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Design of the School of Design of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He has also served as an External Examiner of the Department of Design of VTC. In 2004, he became the Vice Chairman of the Design Institute Advisory Board and the Convenor of the Sub-committee on Positioning and Branding, providing expert advice to the establishment of the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) and development of the HKDI brand. He was one of the founding members of HKICC Lee Shau Kee School of Creativity and is now a member of the School Board. In recognition of his contribution in enhancing the identity of Hong Kong design overseas and in promoting design education, he was awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star by the Government of the HKSAR in 2006. |
