Major Duties : |
The appointee(s) would take up duties in one or more of the following areas: |
|
|
(a) |
System Development |
|
(i) |
To be responsible for the system design, development and maintenance of web and mobile applications with various tools and technologies; |
|
(ii) |
To assist in collecting user requirements, transforming into functional requirements and technical specifications, and support Proof of concept (PoC); |
|
(iii) |
To assist in the daily administration, enhancement and support of mission-critical systems; and |
|
(iv) |
To liaise with and support users for system implementation, bug fixing, user acceptance test, deployment, training and related documentation. |
(b) |
Infrastructure Management |
|
(i) |
To collaborate with central IT to implement different IT projects and provide operation supports; |
|
(ii) |
To oversee and maintain the campus network, IT application systems with servers and network administration of CISCO / H3C / Ruckus network equipment; |
|
(iii) |
To provide support on data centre management, operations and monitoring; |
|
(iv) |
To manage IT systems and services on Windows / Linux / virtualisation platforms; |
|
(v) |
To lead the Technical Support Team to provide IT-related support services for staff and /or students; |
|
(vi) |
To liaise with vendors and stakeholders on IT projects to ensure the IT policies & guidelines, and to handle the procurement and inventory control of IT hardware, software and consumables; and |
|
(vii) |
To assist and coordinate systems and equipment installation, testing and commissioning. |
(c) |
User Services |
|
(i) |
To provide end-user support on enterprise desktop applications; |
|
(ii) |
To liaise with vendors and stakeholders on various issues of enterprise application, knowledge management, anti-virus, and e-learning, e.g., deployment, bug fixing, training, etc. and to handle procurement, maintenance renewal of IT hardware and software and assist tender evaluation of IT related facilities; |
|
(iii) |
To oversee system administration and upgrade of IT application and services with Servers on Windows / Linux / VMware platforms; |
|
(iv) |
To provide training and consultation on Digital & IT related services to users; |
|
(v) |
To perform data mining, conduct data analytics and compile statistical reports; |
|
(vi) |
To operate the virtualisation platforms; and |
|
(vii) |
To supervise Technicians to provide technical support. |
(d) |
Digitalisation |
|
(i) |
To assist the development, implementation and enhancement of AV System Design, Conference Room Modernisation Project and Smart Campus Project (IoT), ensuring the project meet user needs, meet specifications and industry standards; |
|
(ii) |
To assist and coordinate systems and equipment installation, testing and commissioning; |
|
(iii) |
To assist on troubleshoot “faulty” systems and equipment problems at sites; |
|
(iv) |
To prepare and update administration guide, user manual, equipment list and layout; |
|
(v) |
To evaluate and recommend New Technologies for potential implementation to enhance AV system, Conference Room experience and Smart Campus user experience; and |
|
(vi) |
To manage vendor relationships ensuring timely delivery of products and services in line with project requirements. |
|
|
Requirements : |
(a) |
(i) |
A recognised degree in IT or equivalent with at least 2 years’ relevant work experience; OR |
|
(ii) |
A recognised higher diploma in IT or equivalent with at least 5 years’ relevant work experience; |
(b) |
Good knowledge and solid experience in emerging smart technology, EdTech, IOT and Cybersecurity is preferable; |
(c) |
Experience / knowledge / skills in some of the following areas will be an advantage: |

(i) |
RESTful API, AJAX, JavaScript, SQL, PHP, Python, RPA, PowerShell and / or .NET development; |
|
(ii) |
Open source JavaScript framework (e.g. React / Angular/ JQuery); |
|
(iii) |
I.T. Network, LAN / WAN technology and TCP / IP with WiFi services such as Ruckus, H3C or Huawei; |
|
(iv) |
AutoCAD; |
|
(v) |
AV / AVoIP System Integration, DSP programming, configuration work and AV facilities in classrooms, meeting rooms and / or Q-SYS System, and digital signage; |
|
(vi) |
Configuration and operation of a broad range of AV technologies, including AV over IP, Crestron control system and digital signage; |
|
(vii) |
LoRa, ZigBee, WiFi, Bluetooth and NB-IoT applications. |
|
(viii) |
Fibre to the Room (FTTR); |
|
(ix) |
Administration of Windows, Linux and VM Server; and |
|
(x) |
Administration of Active Directory and Active Directory Federation Services; |
(d) |
Proficiency in English and Chinese; and |
(e) |
Good interpersonal skills, self-initiative and be a good team player. |

Applicants with substantial experience and achievements in the relevant field but without the required academic / professional qualifications OR those with exceptional academic / professional qualifications but with less experience may also apply. |

Appointee(s) may be required to work irregular hours / outside normal office hours and / or at different work locations on a need basis. |

Appointee(s) may be posted to any operational units of the VTC, for example a campus / centre, to carry out similar duties, and have different post titles which are subject to change at the Council’s discretion. |
