Principal Lecturer

Major Duties: |
(a) |
To play a leading role in the planning, development, promotion and management of the discipline / operational unit to ensure an efficient and smooth operation of the discipline / operational unit; |
(b) |
To lead and manage the provision and utilisation of staff and other resources of the discipline / operational unit; |
(c) |
To assist the Academic Director in leading the development, validation and accreditation of programmes as well as strategic development of the discipline; |
(d) |
To act as Chairperson of Programme Boards, Module Board, Boards of Examiners and other academic / management committees and work groups as required; |
(e) |
To maintain close contacts with industry, commerce, professional bodies (particularly in the E-Commerce and Marketing sectors) and other educational institutes for establishing collaborative arrangement, and promoting and ensuring the relevance and excellence of Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET); |
(f) |
To develop and review quality policies and procedures, and to oversee the academic quality of the training programmes of the discipline / operational unit; |
(g) |
To formulate strategies and policies in relation to the HKVTC Shop and implement long-term strategic marketing plans for sustainable development; |
(h) |
To explore new service and programmes, such as developing consultancy, corporate training programmes or top-up degree programmes, to meet the needs of the industry; |
(i) |
To lead the Marketing and Publicity Team to formulate the local and non-local marketing and promotional strategies, oversee projects and events, including student admission, for the Business Discipline; and |
(j) |
To perform teaching duties and/or supervise student projects where necessary. |
Requirements: |
(a) |
A recognised degree and a post-graduate qualification, or equivalent, in relevant professional field(s), preferably with relevant professional qualifications; |
(b) |
At least 8 years’ relevant experience at an appropriate level of responsibility, preferably with some knowledge of or experience in the E-Commerce sector, marketing and promotion, project management and/or collaborative partnership with institutions / entities; |
(c) |
Strong networking capability for organisational development and be able to establish and foster strategic working relationships with leading companies or professional bodies in the industry; |
(d) |
Management experience in programme validation / quality assurance / implementation of new initiatives / development of projects at the academic discipline level; |
(e) |
VPET teaching experience is preferred; |
(f) |
The ability to lead projects and work under pressure; and |
(g) |
Good presentation skills and a high level of proficiency in both Chinese, English and Putonghua. |

Notes: |
(1) |
Applicants with substantial experience and achievements in the relevant field but without the required academic / professional qualifications OR those with exceptional academic / professional qualifications but with less experience may also apply. |
(2) |
Shortlisted candidate(s) will be required to take a written assessment. |
(3) |
The appointee(s) may be required to perform duties outside normal working hours and/or outside campus. |
