    Assistant Registrar
    Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong

    The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) is a member institute of the Vocational Training Council (VTC), established in 2012. It is an innovative, professional and entrepreneurial organisation committed to greening and sustainability. THEi offers more than 20 professional "Applied Science-Oriented" degree programmes across six Academic Departments: Department of Food and Health Sciences, Department of Construction, Environment and Engineering, Department of Sport and Recreation, Department of Hospitality and Business Management, Department of Design and Architecture, and Department of Digital Innovation and Technology. These programmes cover industries with growth potential in Hong Kong and the Asia-Pacific region. The programmes integrate practical applications with theoretical knowledge to ensure that students can effectively apply what they have learned. Our degree programmes are accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications, as well as by the relevant professional bodies where appropriate. By adopting an applied Science-Oriented teaching approach and focusing on applied Bachelor's degree programmes, THEi equips students with professional skills and knowledge to meet various future challenges upon graduation. THEi also collaborates closely with the industry and engage students in active learning pedagogies including a strong emphasis on project-based learning involving real-world problem-solving with and for local industries and professions.

    Major Duties:
    The Registry is responsible for an array of administrative and academic support services to support the strategic development of the Institute, including student recruitment, admission and registration, class scheduling, management of assessments and examination, student records, graduation, committee secretariat, academic programme accreditation, and academic policies and regulations.
     
    Reporting directly to the Registrar, the Assistant Registrar is required:
    (a) To support the Registrar in the formulation, update, implementation and monitoring of academic policies, regulations and procedures;
    (b) To assist in the formulation of admission strategies and co-ordinate all student recruitment activities, including local and non-local admission, admission-related promotion and liaison activities, the update and production of admission prospectus and leaflets, and other related printed materials;
    (c) To lead and provide a comprehensive range of student support services, including student enrolment and programme registration, class and examination scheduling, processing of assessment results, administration of student surveys, and organisation of graduation ceremony;
    (d) To perform compilation and publication of various student-related statistics;
    (e) To co-ordinate and provide logistics support for Learning Programme Accreditation (LPA), re-LPA and Programme Area Accreditation by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications and other quality assurance agencies;
    (f) To make suggestions to streamline and enhance the daily operations of the Registry and various student-related information systems; and
    (g) To provide secretarial support to various boards and committees.
       
    Requirements:
    (a) A recognised degree or equivalent, preferably with higher or additional academic or professional qualifications;
    (b) At least 7 years of relevant experience at the appropriate level of responsibilities.  Relevant work experience at the registry of a higher education institution would be an advantage;
    (c) Proven experience in programme administration / academic policies and regulations / student admission/ student records management;
    (d) Strong leadership with effective supervisory skills;
    (e) Excellent planning, report writing, time management and organizational skills;
    (f) Ability to manage multiple priorities under minimum supervision; and
    (g) High proficiency in both oral and written English and Chinese, preferably including Putonghua.
         
    Notes:
    (1) The post is at the rank of Manager.
    (2) Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend and pass a written test.
    (3) The appointee may be required to perform duties at different sites and outside Hong Kong a few times a year, and work irregular hours, shifts and on Saturdays and Sundays.
    (4) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
    (5) The appointee will work at the Chai Wan Campus.
