    Term / Temporary / Part-time (Daytime) Lecturer (Food Technology and Nutrition)
    Youth College (Kowloon Bay)

    Specialism:
    Food Technology and Nutrition
       
    Major Duties:
    (a) To perform teaching duties in Food Technology and Nutrition related areas;
    (b) To supervise students’ project / fieldwork placement / industrial visits;
    (c) To perform student development, academic and administrative related duties;
    (d) To provide support to students with special educational needs, including organising various activities and career counselling;
    (e) To develop teaching, learning and assessment materials;
    (f) To procure, prepare and manage / maintain training materials, tools & equipment;
    (g) To organise various activities including but not limited to exhibitions, seminars, open days & student admission; and
    (h) To maintain close contact with industry, commerce, professional bodies and other education institutes; and assist in developing new services and programmes to meet the needs of the industry.
     
    Requirements:
    (a) A recognised degree in relevant disciplines, such as Food Technology, Food Science, and Nutrition, or equivalent, preferably with a post-graduate qualification;
    (b) At least 3 years’ relevant teaching and / or industry experience;
    (c) Good communication, facilitation and presentation skills in both English and Chinese;
    (d) Strong commitment to serve the youth and with experience in managing less academically-inclined students;
    (e) Good understanding of the development of the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework and VTC’s Diploma of Vocational Education Programmes;
    (f) Preferably with experience in teaching sub-diploma courses, curriculum design & development, and implementation of quality assurance policy;
    (g) A good team player and with the ability to work independently under pressure and readiness to embark on self-learning; and
    (h) Good record of linkage with industry or professional bodies would be an advantage.
     
    Notes:
    (1) Applicants with less relevant experience may be considered for the post of Assistant Lecturer, at the rank of Teaching Associate.
    (2) Applicants with substantial experience and achievements in the relevant field but without the required academic /professional qualifications OR those with exceptional academic / professional qualifications but with less experience may also apply.
    (3) Shortlisted candidates will be required to take a written assessment in English
    (4) The appointees may be required to perform duties outside normal working hours and / or in designated places as assigned.
    (5) In support of the Sexual Conviction Record Check (SCRC) Scheme launched by the Hong Kong Police Force, all prospective appointees will be requested to undergo the SCRC at the advanced stage of the employment process.
