    Director of Continuing and Professional Education Office

    Vocational Training Council (VTC), established in 1982, has always been at the forefront of vocational and professional education and training (VPET). As a statutory body, we exist within Hong Kong education system to ensure the skills of the Hong Kong workforce remain fresh and future ready. Our mandate to provide VPET is vital in meeting industry needs, and in fulfilling the aspirations of some 200,000 young people and in-service workers who attend a programme every year at one of our 14 member institutions.     The Council is looking for suitable candidates with right calibre and experience for the position of Director of Continuing and Professional Education Office.
     
       
    Major Responsibilities:
    (a) To lead and oversee strategic development and operations of VTC’s Continuing Professional Education Office (CPEO), Institute of Professional Education And Knowledge (PEAK), the Integrated Vocational Development Centre (IVDC), and School for Higher and Professional Education (SHAPE); as well as the Hong Kong Intellectual Property Academy funded by the HKSAR Government;
    (b) To formulate, review and update CPE framework, policies, guidelines to promote offering of CPE programmes (including on-line learning) for industry and client-customized development programmes for organizations / companies for meeting needs of industry and clients;
    (c) To monitor and assess market needs, and deliver innovative CPE programmes and enhance scope of CPE programmes, as well as to ensure the programme quality through established quality assurance systems and procedures;
    (d) To liaise with internal corporate functional units to facilitate the development and operations of CPE programmes, and to review existing mechanisms and recommend measures to further incentivize / motivate the development and operation of CPE activities by academic disciplines and teaching units;
    (e) To foster and spearhead inter-disciplinary / teaching unit co-operations in the provision of CPE activities;
    (f) To formulate and implement marketing / promotion / enrolment strategies and promote the brand name of VTC CPE as a premier choice of CPE; and
    (g) To assist in formulating Council's strategic initiatives and annual plans of programmes and activities.
       
    Qualifications, Experience and Attributes:
    Applicants should possess:
    (a) substantial managerial experience at a senior level and be well qualified academically and professionally;
    (b) a recognised degree or equivalent, preferably with postgraduate and/or professional qualifications, and good academic / professional standing in the relevant discipline(s);
    (c) strong leadership qualities and proven extensive job exposure in the career path;
    (d) ability to build rapport with trade, industry as well as professional bodies;
    (e) sensitivity to economic trends and business environment and ability to initiate and manage change;
    (f) good people and communication skills;
    (g) excellent command of English and Chinese languages, including Putonghua; and
    (h) solid knowledge and experience in vocational and professional education and training are preferred.

    We offer a competitive remuneration package to the right candidate.  Appointment will be made on contract and renewal is subject to staff performance and service need.
