    Systems Manager
    Information Technology Office

    Major Duties:
    The appointee(s) would take up duties in ONE of the following areas:
    (a) Infrastructure Management
      (i) Database Administrator
      - To provide technical support for Oracle / MSSQL / MySQL databases;
      - To perform database design, maintenance, configuration and upgrade;
      - To supervise DBA sub-team for the continual support of database service and database technical solution;
      - To monitor, maintain and tune database for improving reliability and performance;
      - To develop and implement standards and best practices for database administration; and
      - To assist in the overall planning and coordination of the development in IT infrastructure and other projects with Smart Campus Initiatives.
         
      (ii) VM and Cloud Administrator
      - To manage and oversee all aspects of cloud and virtualisation infrastructure;
      - To lead team members to access, design, implement, optimise and provide continual support for cloud and virtualisation technologies; 
      - To assist the management in project oversight, budgeting and resource allocation in IT projects;
      - To foster collaboration and communication across teams, campuses and vendors to ensure security, compliance, issue resolution and optimal systems performance; and
      - To manage vendor relationship and procurement for equipment and services.
         
    (b) Email & Authentication
      (i) To manage and administer the Anti-spam Gateway, Microsoft Products (e.g. Exchange Online, Microsoft Windows / Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Purview Information Protection and Single-Sign-On System) and Mobile Device Management solution (e.g. Microsoft Intune);
      (ii) To lead team members for continual support for email and authentication platform service;
      (iii) To review on technology and relevant focus areas where effectiveness of controls having improvements;
      (iv) To assist in the overall planning and coordination of the project development, implementation and enhancement in IT projects; and
      (v) To liaise with various operational units and vendors on projects.
         
    Requirements:
    (a) A recognised degree in IT or equivalent with at least 5 years’ relevant work experience;
    (b) Experience in IT project management will be an advantage;
    (c) Good supervisory skills, interpersonal skills and be a good team player;
    (d) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders; and
    (e) Proficiency in English and Chinese.
    (f) For Major Duties in the area of Infrastructure Management, applicants with excellent knowledge and hands-on experience in any of the following aspects will be an advantage:
      (i) Oracle versions 11g / 12c / 19c;
      (ii) Oracle Fusion Middleware, Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), Automatic Storage Management (ASM), Oracle Advanced Security;
      (iii) Microsoft SQL Server 2019 / 2022, MySQL;
      (iv) System Administrations (e.g.: Linux, Unix, Windows Server, SQL server);
      (v) Virtualisation and Hyperconverged Infrastructure (e.g.: VMware, Hyper-V, ZStack, Sangfor, H3C, Nutanix, VxRail), Storage Infrastructure (e.g.: Dell, Huawei, Hitachi, PureStorage) & monitoring systems;
      (vi) Cloud computing (e.g.: Alibaba, AWS, Azure, Huawei);
      (vii) Automation and scripting tools (e.g.: Python, Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell);
      (viii) Proficient in problem-solving, particularly in identifying and resolving intricate technical issues; and
      (ix) Certificate holder of the followings is an advantage:
      - Alibaba Cloud Professional (ACP)
      - AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional (ACP)
      - Azure Administrator Associate
      - VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
      - Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP)
    (g) For Major Duties in the area of Email and Authentication, applicants with excellent knowledge and hands-on experience in any of the following aspects will be an advantage:
      (i) System Administrations (e.g.: Linux, Windows Server, SQL server, Anti-spam Gateway);
      (ii) Microsoft Products (e.g.: Exchange Online, Microsoft Windows / Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Purview Information Protection and Single-Sign-On System) and Mobile Device Management solution (e.g.: Microsoft Intune, Jamf); and
      (iii) Web development languages (e.g.: ASP, HTML, CSS, PowerShell, .NET).
       
    Notes:
    (1) The post is at the rank of “Senior Officer”.
    (2) Applicants with less relevant experience and / or qualification may be considered for the post of Assistant Systems Manager, at the rank of “Officer”.
    (3) Applicants with substantial experience and achievements in the relevant field but without the required academic / professional qualifications OR those with exceptional academic / professional qualifications but with less experience may also apply.
    (4) Appointees may be required to work irregular hours / outside normal office hours and / or at different work locations on a need basis.
    (5) Appointees may be posted to any operational units of the VTC and may have different post titles which are subject to change at the Council’s discretion.
