    Part-time Lecturer
    Hong Kong Design Institute

    Subject Areas:
    (i) Graphics Design
    (ii) Illustration
    (iii) Fine Art
    (iv) 3D Visualisation
     
    Major Duties:
    (a) To perform teaching duties including supervision of student projects and fieldwork placement;
    (b) To carry out duties in relation to student and academic administration;
    (c) To develop programme curriculum and teaching, learning and assessment materials;
    (d) To assist in validation and accreditation of the programmes; and
    (e) To participate in networking with industry / industrial attachments, departmental projects and functions including but not limited to consultancy services, research studies, seminars and exhibitions.
     
    Requirements:
    (a) A recognised degree in Graphic Design / Fine Art / Visual Art / Illustration / Digital Media, or equivalent, preferably with a post-graduate qualification;
    (b) At least 3 years’ relevant teaching and / or industry experience, preferably with international exposure and at an appropriate level of responsibility;
    (c) Good interpersonal and team building skills;
    (d) Good communication and presentation skill in both English and Chinese, preferably including Putonghua;
    (e) Proficient with knowledge and hands-on experience in at least one of the following areas would be an advantage:
      (i) For Graphic Design: (i) editorial and narrative illustration / digital and moving image / publication and design integration;
      (ii) For Illustration: (i) digital illustration / traditional media / editorial illustration / storyboarding / character design;
      (iii) For Fine Art: (i) oil painting / art history / curatorial and exhibition organising;
      (iv) For 3D visualisation: (i) 3D visualisation for character design, packaging design, premium product design;
    (g) Records in organising events, exhibition, large-scale projects like mural design or illustrative promotional campaigns and linkage with industry / professional bodies would be an advantage.
     
    Notes:
    (1) Applicants with less relevant experience and / or qualification may be considered for the post of Part-time Assistant Lecturer, at the rank of “Teaching Associate”.
    (2) Applicants with substantial experience and achievements in the relevant field but without the required academic / professional qualifications OR those with exceptional academic / professional qualifications but with less experience may also apply.
    (3) Shortlisted candidate will be required to take a written assessment.
    (4) Appointees may be required to work irregular hours / outside normal office hours and / or at different work locations on a need basis.
