    VTC-HKFYG to co-host Symposium for
    HKDSE Graduates 2020 (11 July)

In the run-up to the results release of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE), the Vocational Training Council (VTC) will partner with the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) to co-host the Symposium for HKDSE Graduates 2020 in the afternoon on 11 July (Saturday). The Symposium will not only provide up-to-date information on study options and analyse key admission figures, it will also feature a special talk by a VTC graduate who will tell of his career stories and offer insights into the new opportunities to work in the innovation and technology (I&T) industry, all of which helping HKDSE candidates to plan future study path. Available live online this year, the Symposium welcomes HKDSE candidates and parents to join and get prepared for the results release.

The Symposium is information-packed where VTC Senior Assistant Executive Director (Academic Services), Gladys YAM, will explain the latest information and figures of further studies and outline VTC’s admission arrangements of the results release day to assist HKDSE candidates to apply for their preferred programmes.

At the thematic talk, a graduate of the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) and an Education Advisor will give HKDSE candidates useful career advice, highlight the new opportunities in I&T industry and provide practical tips on further studies. The speaker, Chris LAM, is a graduate of IVE Higher Diploma in Software Engineering and is now the Chief Technology Officer of a medical information platform start-up. At IVE, Chris acquired practical knowledge about the Internet, software systems development and software quality management. Upon graduation, he progressed to relevant bachelor’s and master’s degrees at local universities. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, Chris has recently developed a programme for the medical information platform of his company to incorporate video consultation functions, coupled with logistic services to arrange virus tests for users, with a view to contributing to the healthcare system. At the Symposium, Chris will share his learning experience, talk about his views on new I&T opportunities in recent years, and offer first-hand tips for young people on career planning.

All Secondary 6 students and parents are welcome to join. For registration details, please visit http://www.vtc.edu.hk/ero/dse2020.
