The presentation ceremony of the Dr Ng Tat-lun Memorial Outstanding Students Award Scheme 2016, recognising the outstanding performance of nine Vocational Training Council (VTC) students, took place today (16 June). The ceremony was the latest of many such events to see VTC students receive the commendation and support of donors. Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Johnny YEUNG, representative of the donors to the Dr Ng Tat-lun Memorial Outstanding Students Award Scheme, said, “While immersing yourselves in study, you should grasp the learning opportunities and scholarships offered to broaden your international perspective and enhance your competitiveness through extracurricular and exchange activities to acquire better understanding of the interconnectedness and development of the global community.” Excelling in the areas of academic studies, extracurricular activities and community service, the awardees were recommended by their respective departments and emerged with flying colours in the interviews. This year a total of nine students were conferred the scholarships, with each awarded HK$10,000. (See Annex 1 for the awardee list.) One of the awardees, Jennifer TSANG, is a student of the Higher Diploma in Sports Coaching programme offered by the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) (Chai Wan), member institution of VTC.
