This year, over 16,000 graduates from different VTC member institutions are being conferred with awards ranging from Bachelor Degree to Higher Diploma, Diploma of Foundation Studies, Diploma of Vocational Education, Diploma and Certificate
Secretary for Education Dr CHOI Yuk-lin notes that the HKSAR Government will continue to support VTC in establishing “implementation” and “thinking” as the principles of education, so as to provide diversified programmes, workplace learning opportunities and enhanced teaching facilities
VTC Chairman Mr Tony TAI says the VTC has all along been proactively responding to the demand from society for new skills and talent by incorporating innovation and technology elements into its teaching and learning, developing smart campuses, adopting a cross-disciplinary approach and spearheading industry co-creation projects. This will help students grasp professional knowledge and emerging technologies, as well as accumulate applied skills in the workplace
The VTC Graduation Ceremonies are being held in hybrid mode this year, with graduates able to share the joyful moments either on campus or online
Dr Ng Tat-lun Memorial Outstanding Student Awards was presented on the same occasion. Ten outstanding students from different disciplines are honoured for their excellence in academic studies, leadership, personal attributes, extracurricular activities and community services
One of the awardees is WONG Chun -fai, who graduated from the Higher Diploma in Biotechnology with the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE). He gained hands-on experience from working at the Jellyfish Aquarium in a theme park, using aseptic techniques learnt at IVE to feed and take care of the jellyfish
Another awardee is WONG Lok-ching, who graduated from IVE with a Higher Diploma in Sports Administration. A member of the Hong Kong Rope Skipping representative team, she won one gold medal, two silvers and one bronze in the IJRU Virtual World Championship Series. She has now started a bachelor’s degree in Sports and Recreation Management at a local university
