"It’s always been my dream to study Biotechnology. To stick to my interest in biotechnology, I gave up a JUPAS offer in computer science from a local university upon graduation from secondary 7 and opted for IVE. Later, I was awarded the Alistair Harvey Foundation scholarship to further my studies at the University of Ulster, UK. During my two years at the University of Ulster, I enjoyed opportunities to participate in different research projects and work with top-notch professors. Currently, I am a PhD student in a local university, specialising in cancer treatments using Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicines."

"I’m a people person. I dislike monotonous jobs and love travelling and fashion design. Upon graduation from secondary 7, I applied for both the Higher Diploma in Fashion and Textiles from Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Higher Diploma in Theme Park and ‘MICE’Tourism by IVE. Despite receiving offers from both courses, I finally decided to go to IVE as it is one of the very few institutions in Hong Kong that offers a MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Convention, and Exhibition) programme. I definitely couldn’t miss out on the opportunity to enrol in the programme!"

"With the support from my family and my keen interest in hospitality, I decided to take the Higher Diploma in Hospitality and Catering, just like my sister. Both of us are determined to develop a career in this industry. Our satisfactory performance during practical training earned us a part-time job offer from Disneyland. My lecturer encouraged me to take this placement opportunity to diversify my experience in different work settings as well as broaden our horizons."

"There were plenty opportunities for site visits during my studies at IVE. The most memorable experience I had was carrying out sea water sampling tests in the areas around North Lantau Island and Ma Wan to measure the quality of water in Victoria Harbour. This valuable experience allowed me to acquire necessary knowledge and equipped me for further study and employment.
After completing the Higher Diploma Programme at IVE, I received offers from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the City University of Hong Kong. At the same time, I was awarded a full scholarship from the Alistair Harvey Foundation to pursue a degree course in the UK. In the end, I decided to study at the University of Plymouth in the UK, majoring in Environmental Science.
After I graduated, I was awarded sponsorship for further study in the UK to pursue a master degree in Environmental Science at Imperial College, so as to enrich my knowledge and broaden my international horizons. After completing my education, I came back to Hong Kong to start my career. The knowledge and skills I acquired at IVE soon helped me find a job as an assistant environmental consultant in a US environment management company, responsible for environmentally friendly duties."

It gave me the opportunity to meet with 12 well-acclaimed fashion designers and industry insiders to introduce design concepts from my collection.
After completing my Higher Diploma, I enrolled in the fashion design degree programme jointly organised by SHAPE and Nottingham Trent University in order to broaden my horizons. I sincerely hope that one day I will be able to showcase my own fashion collection on the world stage!"
"After HKALE, I enrolled in the IVE 2-year (5 semesters) Higher Diploma in Business Administration. I came to realise that learning does not necessarily concentrate on theory and knowledge, but also practical experience, which is the key to success. During the summertime, I had an internship with a large property management company. The practical experience allowed me to better understand the management system in a corporate environment. I also noticed the importance of having good communication with clients as well as putting myself more in their shoes when it came to work.
Besides that, I took part in a group project for which we were required to draw up a business proposal and run a stall in the Chinese New Year fair. For everything from strategy planning and stall bidding to product purchasing and budgeting, we made good use of the knowledge we learnt in class. “Though I was interested in the IT field, I did not have the chance to study it when I was in the secondary school. On completion of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE), I decided to study a higher diploma programme in IT with IVE. As I did not study any IT related course in the past I worried about lagging behind the others when I first started the programme. It was very fortunate that lecturers in IVE are all experienced and dedicated to teaching. With their lectures and clear notes. I learnt very fast and my interest in IT keeps rising.
Learning at IVE is not restricted to classroom only, I was offered a chance to serve as an intern in an IT company and help them produce a website. In the coming year, I’m going to take part in an IT competition and am planning to join an exchange programme in order to learn and experience more. “
“I am an outgoing person, always ready to take on new challenges. On completion of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE), I decided to enroll into the IVE Higher Diploma in Tourism and MICE programme. I aspire to a career in the hospitality industry and am eager to equip myself through the diversified learning mode of the IVE.
During my Year One study, I was offered the valuable internship opportunity in a travel agency in addition to the traditional classroom learning. In the course of internship, I was able to observe the actual operation environment of the business and apply knowledge I have learnt in school to the actual tasks. The experience did not only widen my horizon, but also gave me a chance to obtain real life working experience. More so, I am going to participate in an exchange programme to Singapore, which will definitely further enhance my learning experiences!”
“It is widely believed that the future of mobile computing industry will be thriving and full of unexpected potentials; I therefore chose IVE to prepare myself to enter glamorous field. At the very beginning, it was really a tough time for a student like me, who didn’t have any prior knowledge of computing. However, the encouragement given by teachers and supports offered by fellow students empowered me and encouraged me to go on.
I am grateful to have a chance to participate in the MPFA multi-media competition last year with two of my classmates and won the championship. I was selected to be an intern of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority to help mobile app programming. This valuable opportunity enabled me to implement what I learnt during lessons.”

For everything from strategy planning and stall bidding to product purchasing and budgeting, we made good use of the knowledge we learnt in class. This invaluable experience not only helped us move on to further studies and develop our careers, but also enriched our life experience!"

"Following my strong passion for sports, I chose the course in Sports Management at IVE after completing Secondary 7. With a clear goal and support from my teachers, I became more dedicated to my studies than ever before. The diversified articulation pathways of IVE courses allowed me to complete my top-up degree offered by Sheffield Hallam University in collaboration with SHAPE in only one year. Besides that, I also got the chance to organise large-scale events. Such experiences better prepared me for my current career at the North District Office."

"I dreamed of becoming a designer since I was very young. After graduating from secondary 7, I gave up the opportunity to go to university to study electrical engineering and took up fashion design at the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) to pursue my dreams. During my tenure at HKDI, I participated in many open competitions and made use of what I had learnt in my course. Although I was both jittery and excited at the same time, winning the Gold Prize of REMIX, the International Fur Design Competition at La Visionnaire held in Milan, was one of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had.

"A JUPAS application is not the only way to enter local universities! I chose the Higher Diploma in Civil Engineering at IVE after my secondary 7 graduation. Higher Diploma qualifications are recognised by local universities. I was given an opportunity to work at Fugro, responsible for building inspection related jobs. I could apply what I had learnt in the classroom to the workplace. After graduating from IVE, I applied for the degree in Civil Engineering offered by local universities through the non-JUPAS admission scheme and received offers from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, The Hong Kong University and the City University of Hong Kong. I selected the Bachelor degree programme in Civil Engineering at HKUST and was given subject exemptions on the strength of my recognised Higher Diploma qualifications from IVE."

"Following my strong passion for sports, I chose the course in Sports Management at IVE after completing Secondary 7. With a clear goal and support from my teachers, I became more dedicated to my studies than ever before. Besides that, I also got the chance to organise large-scale events. Such experiences better prepared me for my current career at the North District Office."

Besides that, I also got the chance to organise large-scale events. Such experiences better prepared me for my current career at the North District Office."

This invaluable experience not only helped us move on to further studies and develop our careers, but also enriched our life experience!"
