Dr Michael Wang Jianguo
 

Dr Michael Wang is a seasoned educator with extensive experience in industry engagement and integration, implementation of innovative pedagogy and student learning.  

Joining the VTC as Deputy Executive Director in February 2019, Dr Wang is primarily responsible for overseeing VTC’s policy areas for programmes at and above degree levels and leading the strategic development of the Design and the Engineering Disciplines. He also steers the holistic programme planning, curriculum development and student admission exercises.
 
Prior to joining the VTC, Dr Wang had been in the technical education sector in Singapore for over twenty years contributing to the development of professional disciplines in logistics, supply chain and engineering. Having served as Member in many governmental committees and workgroups in Singapore, he has a strong network with government officials, industry partners, trade associations, professional bodies and education institutions in Singapore and the region.
 
Dr Wang holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Qilu University of Technology, China), a Master’s Degree in Automation Engineering (Shandong University, China) and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering (Tsinghua University, China). He has completed his postdoctoral fellowship at National University of Singapore, an executive programme at INSEAD, and a senior management programme at Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore.

 





















 


Ms Gladys Yam Ying-sim
 

Ms Gladys Yam is a seasoned administrator in the vocational and professional education and training sector.
 

Appointed as Deputy Executive Director in October 2021, Ms Yam is primarily responsible for overseeing VTC’s policy areas for programmes at and below sub-degree levels, campus learning resources support, and VPET marketing and promotion. She is also leading the strategic development of the Languages and the Childcare, Elderly and Community Services Disciplines.
 

Prior to assuming her current post, Ms Yam had undertaken different leadership roles at VTC including Senior Assistant Executive Director, Principal of School for Higher and Professional Education, Principal of Institute of Professional Education And Knowledge, Head of Human Resources Division and Head of the Business Administration Department in IVE (Haking Wong).
 

Ms Yam holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and Master’s degree in Business Administration (The University of Hong Kong).
 

 

 


Ir Dr Eric Liu Sai-Lok
 

Ir Dr Eric Liu is a seasoned educator and professional with profound knowledge and expertise in the engineering and the technology sectors.

Appointed as Deputy Executive Director in September 2017, Ir Dr Liu is primarily responsible for leading the strategic development of the Health and Life Sciences and the Information Technology Disciplines. He also steers the campus development, green and sustainable development, and digital future initiatives.

Prior to assuming his current post, Ir Dr Liu had held positions as Vice Principal of Hong Kong Design Institute, Principal of Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Tuen Mun) and Principal of Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Tsing Yi). He is active within professional institutions and industry associations, and sits on various committees including The Council of The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, Engineers Registration Board, Hong Kong Electronics Industry Council, Hong Kong Automation Technology Council, and Hong Kong Aviation Industry Association.

Ir Dr Liu holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering (The University of Hong Kong), a Master’s Degree in Industrial Automation (City University of Hong Kong) and a Doctor of Education Degree (University of Technology, Sydney, Australia). His professional engineering qualifications/memberships include: Chartered Engineer (UK), Chartered Professional Engineer (Australia), Fellow of Engineers Australia (FIEAust), Fellow of Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (FHKIE), Member of The Institution of Engineering and Technology (MIET) and Member of Association of Computing Machinery (MACM).  

 





















 


Mr Edmond Yu Kwok-chu
 
Mr Edmond Yu is a veteran in the vocational and professional education and training sector, with substantial teaching and management experience.
 
Appointed as Deputy Executive Director in August 2020, Mr Yu is primarily responsible for overseeing VTC’s policy areas of quality enhancement and accreditation, learning and teaching, institutional advancement and alumni engagement. He is also leading the strategic development of the Hospitality and the Student Development Disciplines, continuing & further education programmes, as well as vocational training for people with disabilities and students with special educational needs.
 
Mr Yu possesses extensive experience in business development, organisation management and VPET. Prior to this appointment, he had held a number of senior management positions in multinational corporations and in different operational units of VTC, including the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Haking Wong), Headquarters (Academic Services), and the Hotel and Tourism Institute, the Chinese Culinary Institute and the International Culinary Institute.
 
Mr Yu holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Financial Management and Computer Science (University of Sheffield) and a Master’s degree in Business Administration (Cardiff Business School, the University of Wales). He is a Professional Member of the Institute of Purchasing and Supply of Hong Kong.
 

 





















 


Ms Alaina Shum Jiu-fai
 
Ms Alaina Shum is a seasoned administrator with rich experience in various regional and global companies.
 
Ms Shum joined the VTC as Deputy Executive Director in November 2021, primarily overseeing the strategic development of the Business Discipline. She is also committed to developing strategic collaboration with local industry partners and major stakeholders in the Greater Bay Area and overseas countries on VPET.
 
Ms Shum possesses extensive experience in various industries including transportation, airlines and logistics. Prior to joining the VTC, she had held senior management positions with the Airport Authority Hong Kong and other global companies. Moreover, she was appointed as Director of Hong Kong - Zhuhai Airport Management Company Limited from June 2010 to July 2014. She is a Council Member and a Chartered Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.
 
Ms Shum holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Finance, Economics and Actuarial Science (University of Toronto) and a Master’s degree in Business Administration (University of Sydney).
